Thinking of buying one of these options, but i dont know if the extra cost of the widescreen is really worth it. Any other opinions on this would be apprecaited. I will only be buying the uk regional version. _________________ HP iPAQ 2210 (Rom V1.10)

Well its a lot more money but also you get the TMC aerial socket which you dont get on TT1 V2 but if you are not bothered about traffic go for the cheaper TT1 V2 screen size is perfect for me.

Thanks for your help Dave i think you have helped me make up my mind. Does the TomTom One have points of interest and allow you to add more as well as post code navigation? Whats the time to fix when you turn it on? _________________ HP iPAQ 2210 (Rom V1.10)

Yes, the software is the same across all TomToms excepting minor differences for TMC support and BT Hands Free options.

The v2 has the GlobalLocate chipset and hence enjoys a fast TTFF, sub 20 secs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Bought a TT one V2 (std) yesterday; could not justify £100 extra for widescreen. Surprised that as soon as I switch on I get a fix and that's inside the house :D |

Yes has the option of adding POIs and Post code and my fix outside is withing seconds most of the time, also it is quite good indoors too. Don`t get me wrong if the XL was the same price of course i would have gone for that but to justify the extra £100 or so i would not bother.
hope it helps

Sorry just one more question i have the old car charger from original tomtom bluetooth gps. I think it is 5V can this be used with the stand alone tomtom units or will i need a different charger?
Thanks agin guys. I am going to PC world tomorrow to look at them. ive almost certainly decided on the tomtom one and not the xl version. They are selling them for a decent price and agree with other people's comments that the extra £100 for the widescreen is asking to much. _________________ HP iPAQ 2210 (Rom V1.10)

The new device will come supplied with a car charger lead so simply use that to charge/ power the new unit, the other charger you have is probably not up to the job of supplying the required current to the One - Mike |
