TT ONE v2 europe
as i understand it when i reconnect to TT HOME unit should be updated with gps info automatically if it has not been done in the last 5 days.
when i connect to home the only updates available to download are a new telephone database etc and a newer version of HOME which i have declined to upgrade to. is that my problem?? as i cant seem to update the gps info for quickfix.
i do connect to traffic but i understand that on the ONE this method will not also update quickfix.
any pointers on what i am doing wrong??
many thanks
tony. |

I think the QuickFix download is updated on a Friday Night. I've only ever got it on a Sat morning. _________________ Richard

If you don't update Home you wont be able to get the QuickGpsFix download, as the older versions of Home haven't got a clue what it is or where to put it. |

When a new version is available it will automatically show up in the updates section. When i updated Home i didn't see the quickfix download for about 3 or 4 days. Maybe the latest version of Home downloaded already has a quickfix database included with it or something like that.
Either way you cant set it to update at any user definable interval, its controlled at the server end i.e. home compares the version on the tomtom with the version on the server, if the server version is newer than the version on the device then it downloads it. |

I am using TT Home version 1.3 build 308 by now I guess thats a fairly old version (Its the last one to work with Windows ME) but I have no problem getting the Quick GPS downloads about once each week if I log on. |

I'd imagine each OS supported has completely different numbered versions of Home. With ME being so old they probably very rarely do any updates to that version of home, hence the low count version number. |

Sorry to ask a question on someone elses thread, but, I am using TomTom Home 1.4, and Windows ME, And I can't download any updates, I get an error message, are you saying HOME 1.4 does not support Windows ME, Should I uninstall 1.4, and download 1.3, if so can I get it from the TomTom site? _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

It looks like my presumption in my previous post was wrong. It looks like there isn't a separate version of home specifically for ME. I notice though that you have version 1.4, the latest version is 1.5, try downloading and installing that version and it may fix your problem. |

Just been on the TomTom site, and this is what they say about HOME 1.5
"A special note to customers using Windows ME: We suggest upgrading your system to XP or Vista. If this is not possible, then follow the link below, to download a previous version of TomTom HOME (1.3). This version does not include the latest features HOME has to offer and TomTom will stop supporting this older version at a future date. However, currently, it is a great alternative if upgrading your system is not an option". _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Tanda I dont think your own download problem is because your combination of Windows ME and Home 1.4 are not compatible, but some other reason. In my own case the newer version of Home could not be loaded to my machine it gave me an error message saying higher version of Windows required, eventually I managed to get confirmation from TT that they no longer supported Windows ME. I have no idea what new features later versions of Home have to offer, it seems from this forum that it maybe considered a bit unstable by some users. Its not that there are different versions of Home to work with different OS systems (MAC Excepted) only that the software developers begin to use a new function or feature within the program that is only available in the later version of the OS system, so the older one becomes non supported. |
