|
|
Hi Guys
Hope you can help me with this one.
I purchased a TomTom One v2 Regional with UK and IE mapping on Monday and all going well with the device very impressed indeed.
I'm going to Florida soon so purchased an additional SD card which came with a product code for me to active the USA and Canada map.
I backed up my existing setup and took out the SD that contains UK & IE mapping and as per instructions with the new SD card I placed this into my TomTom One and its currently sitting on a white page with Please Wait loaded in 6 different lanuages and has been for about an hour now.
I'm supposed to get a screen that allows me to agree to the the T&C and then ask me to enter my product code but as yet I've not saw this screen.
Can anyone tell me how I go about trying to resolve this?
Thank you

I've have put a niddle in the reset button at the bottom of the unit and then turned it on.
It still does the same thing.
Is that what you mean by a paper clip hard reset? |

Do you have a card reader? If so, can you 'see' the card in Windows Explorer? It should show up as a hard drive.
If you don't have a card reader, you can also 'see' the card when the TomTom is connected with the USB cable.
The only thing that is irreplaceable is the map folder. The rest of the software can be gotten for free.
My suggestion would be to to copy the map folder to your hard drive so that it's safe. Then you can reformat the new card. When this is done, copy the map back on to the card. Then copy everything from your original UK card, with the exception of the UK map folder. (This will be your operating software.)
All of this is based on the assumption that your card is corrupted in some manner and needs reformatting. |

Make sure that you are plugged into a mains supply - just in case the battery is low.
Can you turn the TT off?
Will it work with the original card installed? _________________ RQ

Okay here's the update.
I've copied the full contents of my UK & IE map card without the maps (so the software as instructed) to the reformated card and added to it the USA and Canada Map and it's still doing the same thing where it hangs on the white screen Please Wait.
The only way for me to get the tomtom to turn off is to use the reset button at the bottom.
Any other suggestions group? |

What happens if you reset and then replace the UK Card, does it boot then? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes everything works great with the UK card I have no issues with it.
I'm starting to think its something wrong with the USA maps that's causing all this hassle! |

If I'm right, it's not the map itself at fault. If the operating system was OK it would load, but then say "No maps found".
Why not try a *complete* copy of your UK card onto the new one? If that doesn't work you will know that the card (or your copying routine) is at fault.
If it *does* work, then you can delete the UK map folder (off the copy!!!), try it again (just to see if I'm right and you get the message above) and then finally add the US map folder again. |
