• GO, GO 300 & 700, RIDER, and NAVIGATOR 5 users pay only $49.95 plus shipping and handling for the new maps.
• These special promotional prices are valid through March 31, 2007. The new maps will be $149.95 thereafter.

The latest US/Canada maps include:
• More than 410,000 new road miles

This latest release is based on the Tele Atlas MultiNetä 2006.10 global digital map database. The content is developed through the most comprehensive and advanced industry processes for anticipating and detecting real world change, and contains data from more than 50,000 authoritative resources. Today, nearly 90 percent of all e911 calls in the US annually are routed using Tele Atlas maps, encompassing about 100 million emergency response calls each year in states including CA, TX, NY, PA, FL and OH. Now TomTom is bringing this same quality content to its end users.
To get your new maps DVD, all you’ll need is:
1. The serial number of your GO, ONE or RIDER, (where is it?) or
2. The product code for your NAVIGATOR product (where is it?).

As a purchaser in the US I was surprised that the S&H charge had to be paid via Paypay. |

I am going to the US several times a year. I tried to upgrade my GO910 North America maps, but I am not allowed to. So TomTom really want all the European users to use OLD maps when visiting the US?? That is really crazy. How can they do that? |

What did they say when you called them about this? Did they say this was actually the policy or is it a screw up with their ordering system on the web? _________________ Creator of the Bright & Vivid scheme available through HOME.

They just told me that all they knew was that European customers are not allowed to order the new US maps. When I asked "Why?", they said that it was company policy |

The text says they are 'This latest release is based on the Tele Atlas MultiNet(tm) 2006.10 global digital map database' - I assume this means they were released in Oct 2006.
www.tomtom.com/news/category.php?ID=4&NID=324&Language=4
If buy US/Canada map on TomTom as uk [currently €80], says it is version V6.6 [Jun 2006 release?] e.g.
www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php?D=8&Language=1&P=35
If dates are correct, how can TT justify [still] selling in UK the old US maps when they already have maps that superceed them? Does this also mean that US can get more up to date European etc maps [e.g. if update as a 910 user], than we can get in Europe - I just bought Western Europe maps and now feel my Christmas preset from TT begins with 's' and ends in 'hafted' :-(

Here's the reply I got from TomTom support. Quote: | Thank you for contacting TomTom regarding the TeleAtlas version for the map update. We apologize for the delay in responding to your email. To answer your question, the map update is based on the 2006.10 TeleAtlas release.
Also, the map updates are available, released on 12/20. Please go to our website tomtom.com to register for the DVD. As a 910 owner, the update is free with a $6.00 shipping charge. |
They are clearly newer maps than what they are selling to their European customers and I just don't get it. At least in the area I live, I would consider the update a fairly significant one as nearly all of the map errors I've reported via http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com have been corrected with this latest release. Why are they selling "new" maps to people in the US and Canada but the rest of their customers can't buy them? I'd call back and ask to have the issue elevated past level one customer service. Don't just accept the first answer you get as correct or set in stone. If you're going to be traveling in the US and my area is any indication of the changes made with the 2006.10 release then you'll definitely want this version of the map. _________________ Creator of the Bright & Vivid scheme available through HOME.

It seems that this is a European centric forum but did anyone from the States have a comment on this new map? I think it is big news. Did anyone get it and determine if this is a more accurate map?? |

Likewise for me. In fact, I got a confirmation indicating that I would get an e-mail when the disc was shipped and I have not received any such e-mail yet, so I imagine it hasn't even been mailed. |

I have a new TT one v2 Europe. I am going to the states on the 19th. My wifes sister lives in Orlando so could have DVD sent to her. Excuse my ignorance but what do you do when you get the DVD, and what additional costs are there. I really need it on a SD card.
Thanks |

I have just ordered one to be sent to our friends in Florida.
I can collect it when I visit and download it from my laptop. |
