I would like to position my gps mouse on the rear parcel of my car,would the heated rear window effect gps reception?

It depends on the heated coil you have in the rear window. It might dampen the GPS signals when your rear heated window is on. You will also need to rig up an extension cable as most in-car cables aren't long enough. |

Thanks Dave.the heated rear window has about 8 wires running across it plus the radio antenna one ,its a Audi TT so i think the cable may just be long enough

In that case you may be okay for length, give it a try and see. In thoery having it on the back parcelshelf will only give it a backwards facing view of the sky and not a forward facing view, and you may find it's not as re-active being on the back parcelshelf. Certainly on longer vehicles it's always best to have it at the front, but I know a lot of people here use a Bluetooth GPS on the back parcelshelf.
The only way really to tell if the rear heater coil is going to interfere is to try it and see, have the status screen up seeing how many sats you have, then switch on the heated rear window and see if the sats drop. |
