the provider will be cyclops
not heard of them before but they seem to sell there own speed camera device.
what will make it worth the extra? they are saying weekly updates and accident blackspots.
not sure that i will switch from here though, i've been perfectly happy with pocketgps, but then i don't drive for a living.
always having the most up to date files will be an absolute must for some.

Yes, at 39GBP it is more expensive than most, but at least they are offering a minimum of Weekly updates instead of the more usual Monthly updates you get with others.
Should be interesting to compare them against the others.

Hi, updated my garmin 360 to 3.6 firmware and find that it also switches off while using it on journeys. Also find now that it will alert me of every Custom poi rather than just my pgps speed camera alerts.
Can i revert back to my old firmware? |

I have a nuvi 310 and the update was from 2.40 to 2.50 and according to the garmin site the update was the same for the 360, so why would you install ver 3.6? , I thought that update was just for the nuvi 300. Or am I missing something here?

iaindunsmore,
No need to revert.
Just go to Settings/Proximity Points/alerts. then click on the change button, then untick Garmin Safety Cameras (as nobody's got 'em yet) then finally click on "audio" at the bottom of the screen. If you tick "Continuous-Speed Alerts" instead of "Continuous - All Alerts" that should do it. |

Here's a VERY STRANGE one ! Just been to Gramins web site to check for any possible new Nuvi updates, and not only has the 3.60 update been replaced, but it's been replaced by 3.30 as of 30th June ????? I wonder if Garmin are telling us something about 3.60. :D |

based on the following website, I'd go for your second option! | Yes, indeed - the only good thing is that they are using a company who have been in the UK market for a while, and are willing to admit it.
The most interesting question is whether Garmin will update the speed camera detection to support automatically showing our average speed as we go through SPECS camera areas, which is just as important than keeping to the speed limit at each camera (or at least a constant warning throughout the area). |

Hi Curious.....
I wonder if that explains why, ever since installing 3v60 my sound has been horribly distorted?
Trouble is, I reformatted my card and re-installed the previous 3v30 which I had backed-up and it's still distorted!
Think I'll have to re-format it again, install the original software then go through the different upgrades till I find (or don't find) a reason for it!
Can't believe it coincidental that the sound got knackered just as I installed 3v60.
Am I alone in this?

Hi all,
Just thought I would ask the same question again which didnt come out all that clear on my last posting.
Quite a few of you appear to have nuvi`s but none have stated which one
apart from one I noticed who said he had a 360 and had updated firmware to ver 3.60. The point I was making was that only the nuvi 300 had an upgrade to version 3.60.
My nuvi 310 went from ver 2.40 to 2.50 the 360 should also have gone from 2.40 to 2.50 so why did some upgrade to the 3.60 version? when it wasnt the right one?
Just thought I would ask in case I was missing something??

I have a nuvi 350 and recieved an email saying there was a software update for it. I'm now on 3.60 on my 350, so not sure why you say the update was only for the 300. |

Hi, I also had an e-mail informing me of an update on my 310 from 2.40 to 2.50 then noticed a posting earlier on in this thread that someone had a 360 and had updated his software to 3.6, having checked the garmin site at the time it only appeared that the 300 had an update to 3.6 if I remember correctly the 360 was the same as mine. I didnt check the 350.
By the way I have just checked the software updates on the garmin site now and the nuvi 310 is on 2.40 as of 30/06 and the 300 is now on 3.30
the mind boggles, must be all this heat!!
Regards...DIL |

Here's the email I received:
Garmin is pleased to announce that new software is available for the nuvi 350.
The new software is: nuvi 350 Ver. 3.60
Garmin recommends that you install this software by using our WebUpdater software. You can learn about WebUpdater on this page:
http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater/
You can download the new software from our website by clicking the following link:
http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00455-00
Changes made from version 3.30 to 3.60:
* Added support for enterprise tracking
* Added support for MPC maps
* Added support for Safety Cameras
* Improved MP3 player: increase maximum number of MP3s to 1000
* Improved multiple map searching
* Changed to make GUPDATE.GCD file update procedure consistent with other GARMIN products
* Fixed Travel Guide warning text
* Updated some text translations
I just clicked on the link which took me to nuvi-350 updates. I checked it at the time and it was specifically for the 350.
But as you say, it is no longer there! Hmmm...... |

The removal of 3.60 was over the weekend.
I posted details of this in another topic on monday, apologies for not mentioning it earlier here.
Rumour (on another forum) is, and I must stress rumour, that some people have lost pre-installed maps as a result of the upgrade.
Apparently a revised software is days away.
