hello, can someone recommend a good GPS receiver that can be used for both palm tx and laptop computer?
Either of the following configurations will be fine:
1. one with bluetooth and a laptop cable option
2. only cable solutions for both palm tx and laptop
Thanks a lot. |

I would recommend option 3 - buy a Bluetooth dongle for the laptop, and then use a BT receiver for both devices. _________________ Lutz

Thank you for the reply.
I just found out that Holux GPSlim 236 perfectly meets all the requirements. The only drawback seems to be a shorter battery life compared with BT338.
Thanks again

I have a Holux 236 and I'm very pleased with it. It is very small, has a replaceable battery and has a very good battery life for its size. However there might be one small problem. Quite a few people have found that under certain conditions it is slow to fix; this is when one is going at walking speed. When my Holux was new there was a time when I was walking around Madrid when it took at least 20 minutes to fix (there weren't particularly tall buildings around), and I thought it had stopped working. I had practically arrived before it fixed.
There's a thread about this on the Holux forum here:- http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=30819
I also have an older GloballSat (BT305?), and the extra sensitivity of the newer chipset in the Holux is very obvious.
Good luck with your choice. |

If you are using the device for walking you might be interested in this http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=33464 the link goes to a post from Holux, it leads to a small free application you install to the PDA to switch the SN on or Off (on for in car use, Off for walking), it makes quite a difference in use - Mike |

The TX is a Palm device so this application will not work (PPC only).
Is that correct Mike, or can it be run from the laptop? |

To be perfectly honest I responded to the post having read the Holux 236 being problematic when walking, I should have read the OP first Mike |
