|
|
Have just received a replacement Garmin i3 and currently doing all the checks. On my old i3 I coud do a full post code search prior to being prompted for house number. On my new one I get as far as entering the first part, and then it brings up all the options but still not in a full format.
So for eg. to search for AB12 3CD, I enter AB12 and it comes up with the full list of AB12 1, AB12 2, AB12 3......................etc. Is this a fault, or normal. Like i said, this didn't happen on my old one.
Please help
Thanks

Make sure you have the up-to-date firmware installed first. |

Not sure what you mean by this. Once i've entered AB12 it lists AB12 1, AB12 2 etc. Just enter a space and keep typing the rest of the address. Works fine. |

Mine (V8 maps 2.7 f/w) allows me to enter a full postcode before asking for a house number.
I just tried it again and MaFt's postcode worked as it should and found an address and your own example postcode worked but obviously couldn't be found as I assume it doesn't exist. |

Thanks again for responses.
Put another way, the i3 will not allow me to enter a full postcode, its almost like it doesn't have a record of any postcodes after the 1st digit on the second half of the code - useless.............. |

yeah, i think you have a duff unit there... or something funny happening! usually when you're typing in a postcode it will shorten the list in the background but let you keep on typing it... |

I'm pretty sure that's your problem.
Can't remember the exact point it came in (haven't got the change log to hand) but I'm sure full postcode searches came in with a certain firmware level.
Most seem to run 2.70, some are on 2.50 or 2.60.
I'd say anything above 2.50 is stable - from what I read. And I've got no reason to think you should have a problem with 2.70. |

As ever, premature moaning and whinging from me - u were all right, updated to 2.7 and i3 is working properly. I must have also had 2.3 when i first bought in september because i never had the postcode problem. I can't believe Garmin would have sold the i3 with that software on it???
Thanks to all for your help
