What happens if you submitted cameras (or adjustments) prior to becoming a forum member (and before the deadline)?
can I have done this??
I sent some direct to Monsieur Barret. How do I know if I qualify? I cannot remember as it was a while ago now...(I can confirm which cameras I submitted).
Also what happens if you sent them from an old mail adress. |

There will be free lifetime membership for those who have already contributed to the original speed camera database.
We will be announcing our checking process for people who submitted cameras soon. If you can identify which cameras you submitted and from which email address it shouldn't be a problem. |

Going to be subbing to the database as soon as i get my tomtom unit.
However i notice on the details that you subbies get discounts on gps gear.
Any ideas on this as i dont want to go out and buy something when i could have saved money by buying the subscription first.
Regards
Peter |

Small change of topic - feel free to delete if not appropriate - but From Another Site:

Sadly, I think you're right.
When the setting-up of an alternative free database, to fill the gap left by the decision of PGPSW to go back on their word and start charging, I think the prospect got everyone quite excited. Shame the excitement doesn't seem to have lasted - it's all gone veeeery quiet around here lately. Oh well, I suppose it's better for it to have bitten the dust before it started, rather than having got off the ground briefly and then nose-dived. |
If the road to oblivion is paved with good intentions, why don't they show up on POI's - now there's an idea.......... _________________ Garmin 2360LT

Been away for a while, so only just found out about this.
I always cited PGPSW as one of the greatest people-power rebellions against a shocking government system. The fact that it was free allowed a huge userbase, and so the 2% that made up contributors was a big enough figure to keep the accuracy high.
Now, of course, the userbase will plummet. I wonder if the sales of TT's will fall too?
A great internet institution lost to the ways of the commercial world.

That is not the case, our userbase is increasing and the announcement has made no difference to the rate of increase.
Yes we will be charging BUT there will be many improvements that everyone will benefit from, improvements that we have invested much time creating.
Easier downloads, more devices covered with custom versions and some fantastic competitions and substantial discount offers open only to subscribers are just some of them.
ALL will be revealed very soon and we're certain they will demonstrate the benefit of joining. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Fibre,
The Current database version is v4.014 (26th January 2006).
Once all of the details have been sorted and the subscription systems put in place the Admin team will make an announcement on the home page, in the forums, and on the camera database download page.
As to when it (the subscription system for the camera database) will be available, you heard it here first!

I would just like to ask if there is any update on having to send my details to you for the life membership. I have submitted a number of cameras on one occasion almost a year ago.
I would have sent other new cameras, but all the ones I past here in the Midlands are already on your database (you and the contibuters just don't give some people a chance to get there own cameras in :D )
Thanks for your help. _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC

well i havent read all the replies (on dialup this evening ) but i have been using this feature for a few months now...come back after a month away and find out i have to pay for information that is submitted voluntarily for the most part (i guess i can say that because there are a number of errors on all previous files which i doubt were collated by paid employees)
i am just a bit disapointed really and i will maybe update only once a year from now on and use the capture facility to maintain my own database. but hey i guess you will get 2 quid out of me |
