|

Hi there,
A friend at work has been very impressed by my GO, and is thinking of getting a GO 300. BUT, he works a lot in Southern Ireland, and this is not on my map, (unless I haven't looked properly )
Is there a map for Southern Ireland for the GO?
If not, which system would you recommend my friend buys to navigate around Southern Ireland?
Thanks a lot, best regards,
Boris |

There is No coverage of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland worth talking about.
I was going to purchase a 'Go 700' the flagship model, on the understanding it would cover Ireland. I was told by TomTom themselves, that they only have the major roads listed.
Clearly this unit is NOT worth the price you pay for it, as i does not guide you round Europe as their advertising states.
Please type in Ireland coverage in the search bar for more infomation / previous posts on the subject. _________________ Don't follow me....i'm lost too! |

From what I have seen, Garmin (using Navteq maps rather than TT's TeleAtlas ones) have the best coverage of Ireland although they only cover 'R' and 'N' roads. Many minor, but quite usable roads are missing.
Major towns like Waterford are fully mapped, but many smaller ones (ie Carlow) only have major roads.
It's OK for cross country driving if you want to stick to major roads or street navigation in Cities, but it's nothing like the near 100% coverage we have in Great Britain.
Go to Garmin's website and have a look at the online map viewer for "City Select" and zoom right in on an area you know to get an idea of what the coverage is like. _________________ Gone fishing! |
