Recently seen a colleagues pda + bluetooth tomtom & software.
Don't know where he got it but I live in Italy and it didn't show any road systems around Bologna airport !
Looking at pdas, but what combinations work well. Spoke to tomtom, they said software will only work on TT3 in landscape mode, and will NOT work on TT5 and will NOT WORK in landscape mode on HP4700.
HP4700 makes sense, but does it make any difference that it cannot be used in landscape ?
The Michelin software has good reviews, but can this be hooked up to PDA + bluetooth tomtom.
would like some basic advice and comments from those who have the combinations
grazie mille!

I run TomTom 3 on an HP Ipaq 4700 with no problems at all. It won't run in landscape mode, but that's no real problem - just use the Ipaq in portait mode when you're running TomTom! _________________ HP iPAQ hx4700 (1.00.09 ENG), TomTom Navigator 3, Seidio G2500 Mount, Franson GpsGate v1.10c, GPSdash2, Anquet Digital Maps |

No such product as TT5 or are you referring to the Palm T5? TomTom Navigator for Palm will run on a T5 and TomTom Navigator v3 runs fine on a 4700. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Shows my novice status, sorry I thought TT5 was an abbrev for Tungsten T5. scusami.
Which wuld be best, or is it just horses for courses, and the only difference is pocket pc v palm OS?? and that 4" screen. TomTom say it will not work in landscape mode i T5&hp4700. Only works on Tungsten T3 in Landscape mode.

Actually you may have been correct calling it the TT5, we're used to calling TomTom TT so apologies.
I would recommend you go for the PocketPC platform, there is much wider support for GPS apps on the PPC. I fully expect Landscape to be sorted in the next version release for PPC as well. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Personally, I have found Palms to have longer battery life than PPC's - so depends on your usage patterns, you may want to take that into consideration.

Watch out for prices tho, in the past GPS sofware for Palm has been quite a bit more expensive. |

Hi IAS,
I faced the same problem with the landscape as you currently have.
After talking to TOMTOM Customer Service, they said that TT3 does not support landscape mode.
Still, I managed to work on a landscape mode with TT3 - but only on a 2D maps. First switch the mode, than start TT. a short soft reset and start TT again after the hx4700 starts. thats that.
I also, installed TT4. It has a nice interface but it is lacking some important feature which I always use (like the intirary)... TT4 works perfectly in Landscape mode.
After reading on TT5, I guess for me that will be the version to use. _________________ --------------------------
