Wondering if it is just my units, or a current Garmin problem...
I have a Nuvi 3598, 2699, 2798, NuviCam and Dezl 770
All HD Traffic and all Smartphone Link enabled
The older 2798 works just fine, never a problem, and the 2699 and 3598 behave pretty well
However the NuviCam and Dezl show crazy software errors with traffic
For example, sometime when you click on the traffic legend on the RHS of the screen (to expand on a traffic problem) and it is supposed to bring up an incident or list of incidents, it sometimes
1. Brings up a white screen
2. A white screen with black bar at the top which just lists the roads
3. The list as it should, but when you click on the incident the map of most of the world is displayed and you would have to manually pinch and zoom in to find the accident. In the meantime you would have caused another
4. It works as it should
Most of the time it is 1, 2 or 3
I've tried HD only, Smartphone Link only, and both together - same problems
THEN on the Dezl 770
In addition to the above, the screem "clicks" by itself, not all the time, but very often
I can be driving and it will switch to the full screen map view (moving icon, still map), today it even when and added a random address to my favourites with the whole sequence of clicks in front of my eyes as I was driving
I have tried hard resets on both
Any ideas other than returning everything to Garmin? _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

My 2599 has been quite well behaved with traffic.
All I have deduced though is that the TA cable traffic comes from Inrix whilst the SmartLink traffic comes from ViaMichelin.
ViaMichelin seem very lax at removing old obsolete roadworks and in busy areas the roadworks overwhelm the traffic to the point of making it useless.
From my experiences a year ago there seems to be about a 200 traffic incident limit either on the unit or in the transmission and in West London the vast majority were roadworks related (I counted 161) so the newer traffic incidents didn't get reported. Waiting for a slot? _________________ DashCam:

Thanks for the reply - yes my 2699 and 2798 are both good too
I prefer to use Smartlink because (in Wales) I find it has excellent roadwork where as the HD cable is okay and TomTom reports virtually no roadworks (just traffic)
Its the newer units that keep failing - NuviCam and Dezl 770 _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I reckon in less densely populated areas it's probably OK but round here SmarkLink was becoming useless.
There was a local accident that got 'Smartlink reported' and it was still showing a delay due to that accident 3 weeks later. That was when I switched back to the cable. _________________ DashCam:

Problem is not only do I get the same map view problems, but virtually no traffic too when here in Wales
For example, on the way home today (around 55mile, mostly motorway) virtually no traffic
My TomTom running alongside showed traffic pretty well, and even my Garmin running on the iPhone picked up all the traffic I would expect
The Dezl 770 with just the HD lead in place virtually nothing
Switched the Smartlink on and it picked up everything the TomTom did and more _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Spoke with Garmin support this AM, but they said they had neard nothing of iPhone to Smartphone Link connection / stability issues, and no traffic display problems
Suggested reinstalling the software using Web Updater (reinstall same - latest - versions)
Downloaded this but everytime I run this (on Dezl and NuviCam) after detecting the unit, finding and then download the software, it says
"The Garmin device is not responding. Ensure the following and try again:
1. The Garmin device's Interface option is set to Garmin or Host mode
2. The cable is connected to the correct port
3. The Garmin device is turned on."
????
All showing connected on the unit, and available in My PC
Help anyone, before I return them both as not fit for purpose - which would be a pity

On my 2599, under settings is 'traffic'. In there is a 5 bar rising display that shows the digital signal strength. Once it gets to 2 or above the 'searching for providers' (or whatever it says) changes to Inrix$ and away it goes.
Do your 2 units have a similar display to see if it's a reception issue? _________________ DashCam:
