|

Hi
Since the recent glitch which forced a re format of device / internal flash memory I have not seen GPS Quickfix updates come through when using update. Have I lost this or do they not do it any more? Everything else is fine.
Now on 8.351 with W&C Euro map v830.2305
(Edit - it just occurred to me that they may not have been any satellite updates etc since I 'sorted' this last problem out and updated everything!! ) |

The quickfix updates are said to help when you haven't had the unit switched on for a while or have moved significantly.
I've never downloaded it and my units have worked fine - sure it may take a few more seconds to get a fix but that's all.
When you leave the unit on outdoors, does it pick up the satellites OK? _________________ Gerry

Yes , it finds the satellites ok ( in the house as well ) it is just that I have not seen any GPS quick fix updates on Home and that is unusual. Normal get them with mapshare etc even if there is nothing else suggested for an update. |

The normal fix for this is to delete the contents of the "ephem" folder on the TomTom itself and also the contents of the "ephemeris" folder on your PC (normally at C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\ephemeris
Next time you connect to Home it should download the GPSQuickFix OK. |

Seems to have done the trick.
Found the ephemeris folder on 'plutor ok and deleted contents. Couldn't find the ephem folder on the TT though albeit there was an obvious gap where a folder had disappeared. Ran update and got the GPS Quick Fix. This has now put an ephem folder back on the TT.
Thanks for the help. |

It has come up a few times this one - the latest Navcore does not include the ephem folder so you have to create it manually if you have done a format and reinstall.
Also check that in your ASR folder you have a support_asr.dat file otherwise voice instructions will be disabled. If it is missing you can create it with notepad. Make sure it isn't called support_asr.dat.txt The file just needs a single numeral in it of 1 |
