I've dowloaded the last, and according to an articel I read, better version of the X-track software. With the Synchronising program I can make a connection. But when I than click refresh the bluetooth connection directly is off. Can somebody help me astablish a proper connection to refresh the Firmware?

If you've got a firmware image from Fortuna, I'd expect you to have all necessary instructions to install it. If you haven't - I'd leave well alone - you could ruin your GPS.
It is very rare for user-installable firmware upgrades to be made available for SiRF chipset GPSes. Fortuna did make some upgrades available for the GPSmart units, but the upgrade process was not entirely straightforward for many users, and I don't think the Bluetooth version could be upgraded over Bluetooth.
As there's only Bluetooth connectivity to a Clip-On, I'd be very surprised if a user-installable firmware upgrade is made available at all. I suspect changing firmware on these units requires some kind of service cable, but that's a guess.

This is the instruction I've used in my attempt:
http://www.fortuna.com.tw/Support.htm
in specific,
FortunaSync English Version.DOC (2004/4 up) Version.DOC
According to this you should be able to update you Firmware yourself... |

Unless I'm very much mistaken, FortunaSync is for the GPSmart range, not the Clip On.

It seems to be correct, the upgrade is only available GPSmart BT. So far for my wishes to have a better perfoming X-track. The second X-track version is on the new evolved Clip-on. Still hoping for the possibility to upgrade mine into a version 2. Just bought the thing and already a step behind.. Always hate it when that happens. |
