Driving South down the A1coast road from Edinburgh 22nd Jan 2009, my Nuvi 300 Sat Nav kept displaying a 60mph speed alert, however the roadside signs (displaying a speed camera warning) show 70mph limit on the same signs. This is almost all the way to Newcastle. Anyone else notice this? |

Is this a speedcam alert or a road speed alert? _________________ Darren Griffin |

All the speed cameras along that stretch of road have been fine tuned for their accuracy by myself, and possibly others, many times. I use this road monthly and can confirm that all the cameras between Newcastle and Edinburgh are accurately placed and the speed limits are all correct. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

I think that yogi means the speed limit displayed on his GPS, not our camera alert speed.
The speed limit is coded into the map and is frequently wrong. I notice however that, unlike some, yogi makes himself aware of the posted speed limit rather than relying on the SatNav derived speed limit. I also find 'looking out of the window' is the best method of determining the local speed limit . |
