athermic windscreen. I have a renault laguna which has the bane of satnav - an athermic windscreen. I have an extension aerial for the gps which ends up on the parcel shelf at the rear and works fine. Having just bought a Navman S90i to replace my old iCN520, I now have the problem of TMC reception for the traffic info. My logical (??) idea is to somehow fix up the TMC with the aerial for my car radio which receives FM reception very well. But I have no idea how to do this. Any advice welcome. |

Hi,
I've read a post about this in the last couple of weeks and I know that some of the guys who contribute here have done just what you've suggested. i.e. made a connector that allows them to "tee" in the TMC ariel to the car radio ariel.
From what I recall, this means "butchering" your TMC ariel at the far end to splice in a connector so you can tee it in.
Might be worth you searching through some of the posts to get a better idea how.

Hi,
Found something that may be relevant only to the TomTom TMC receiver but you may be able to use this.

There should be a clear section at the top of the screen, behind the interior mirror. Look for a black dotted area. This area is left open for things like Toll Tags and Automatic door transmitters. Try putting the aerial behind your mirror. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

If you want to rig up the tmc to your ariel you will need a Y adapter on the back of your radio. All th parts you need can be sourced from Maplins.
I found this, which is the sort of thing you'll need! _________________ Dom
