|
|
Many things about ViaMichelin and the links between the website and Content Manager are great, however, I have come across one frustrating shortcoming.
When planning a route on the website I found that I couldn't select a destination using the cursor. The only way to select was to know the exact address (in one case I hadn't a clue what the address was). Being able to click and add the cursor position as an address would be great, especially if the X980T is able to update routes and addresses over GPRS (if/when I get my phone to work).
Am I missing something? _________________ ViaMichelin X-980T

Just been having a go and notice that when you set the cursor on the map you can specify routing 'to' or 'from' that position. So I specified 'to', and for 'from' I just put in my home address postcode which fortunately I DO know!
Don't know if that helps?? |

I suggested to the website making the cursor moveable, and they said it was a great idea and would investigate. That was a couple of months ago now though. Sometimes even knowing the exact address causes the cursor to be placed in some random spot on the map. Getting the cursor into the general area is fine, but once there you should be able to click on it and move it. |

Hi All
Sorry that I haven't been in touch for a while but to say that we are busy with the Christmas rush would be an understatement.
I just wanted to update everyone on whats going on and how we are stiull working to support you.
I have a meeting on Thursday with Product Management and while I can't promise that all the issues will be cleared up right away, I do have the list from the site (thanks to you all) and will be going through each issue.
Just to let you know the V7.02 update on the web fixes several problems including:
"Slip Road Flaw": Route would take you off some slip roads then back on again.
- Message "Corrupted data" in Content Manager, under Vista
- Dangerous curves indication (left or right) was random
- System would shut down when deleting a stage along route planning
- No route after download of MyViaMichelin via GPRS
- ... and many wording mistakes that were corrected
We will have an update arounf 17th Decenber to V7.03 which will fix the speed camera download issues some people are getiing and other issues - I will post a full list of what this changes when I have it.
I know that some of you have had an issue with creating new folders when you have downloaded V7.02 and would ask anyone who can to email me a screen shot of this error to show to the developers.
I have now got a direct line to one of the chief software developers on the team and any info you give will be directed to him to make any urgent changes which affect the use of the products. Any cosmetic changes you want to recommend will be taken on board and put forward for inclusion in V8 in March but I think we need to sort out errors first.
Thanks to you all for the support,
Regards

I've added addresses from the VM website to myViaMichelin ok, but when I've created and named routes and tried to add those I get the error:
"An error occurred when you were saving. Please try again later."
Has anyone managed this? If so, were there any other points I might have missed please? |

I used to get this a lot, but after a while the error seemed to disappear? |

Thanks jonandmarkuk; I think I've found my problem.
Does anyone (Stu?) know where there is anything giving more detailed info about saving things in MyViaMichelin (unless it is only 'address' and 'itinerary'). I have now found that a route (itinerary) is saved if town names are used, but not if a postcode is. This may seem obvious to some but I was a bit puzzled why they can't be used in saved routes. |

Sorry just got around to trying this. I couldn't get the to/from option by just clicking on the map, I had to specify an actual address, then the address bubble opens with the to/from option. I'm using Internet Explorer 7, I wonder if that could be the problem. _________________ ViaMichelin X-980T

No RCorry, you're right - I realised afterwards that was actually what I was doing as well! So jonandmarkuk's suggestion seems useful:
Quote: | I suggested to the website making the cursor moveable, and they said it was a great idea and would investigate. |
In the meantime I suppose it is a slightly tedious case of zooming in the area of interest and choosing the most useful street to use as the input address to another map search and getting the to/from option that way. If you have at least a postcode obviously that can be used, but, as I have said earlier, I then found I couldn't the route to MyViamichelin using the postcode itself, as it gives an error - it seems to need a name of a town or similar. |
