|
|
I've just bought a security pack for my Tom Tom Go 500. It etches a reference number on the unit and I have to register it with the International Security Register. They also require the serial number for the unit. I've looked underneath at the interface plug area and there are several numbers. The longest one is beneath a bar code. Does anyone know which one I'm looking for please? |

You probably need the Device Number, which you can find on the info Page of the Device.
Tap the screen, bottom right, where the Sat graphic is, and then just above on the next screen, where the Version number is.
There's a page full of info about the Device.;) _________________ Richard

...and a new *plastic* housing for your GO is £10 and 5 minutes work to replace it which makes the whole exercise a bit pointless. The unit ID is a different matter, because it is written in the permanent memory of the unit, cannot be overwritten (at least not easily) but can be accessed if the uunit can be turned on. |

Too true!
The serial number is the 12 digit number directly under the barcode. |

I have a refurbished unit that TT sent instead of repairing my original unit (ages ago).
While I was inspecting it just after it first arrived, I noticed that the mount rubs on the base right where that barcode is, and the numbers were smeared slightly. With one experimental wipe of my finger, I managed to wipe the whole barcode and number off completely!
I wasn't too worried, because I thought that number was the same as the device code that I can read off-screen, but you've got me worried now! Am I OK? |

You can get your Device ID which also matches your TT serial sticker on the unit.
Switch of unit, remove the SD card, press and hold the power button , you will then be shown the details needed if the serial sticker has been removed or the case changed. |

Thanks - it's a totally different number to the device code! |
