Have you checked the card is not locked i.e. that it is write enabled.
Your TT has to be able to write to the card. |

It depends on how you copied your files to your new card. I find the best way is firstly to ensure that your browser has the 'show hidden files and folders' box checked. Then create a folder on your PC and copy everything from your old SD card to that folder. Finally copy everything from the folder on your PC (not the folder itself, only the contents) to your new SD card. It should then work.
REMEMBER, before you make any changes, perform a full backup. _________________ Tommo...

There are some SD Cards that are giving trouble when used with a TT.
What Card do you have?
And is it a High Speed one? _________________ Richard

I believe that have been found to cause problems with TT.
I currently use a ByteStor Hi-Speed, and I've had no trouble with it.
Could you turn your Caps Lock off please. You're deafening everyone. _________________ Richard

I use a Sandisk 1GB card. It doesn't say what speed it is and I don't know how to find out, but I have never had a problem with it.
Did you ensure that the 'show hidden files and folders' box is definately checked in your windows explorer ? If not there may be a crucial file that you are not copying over and even though you have checked the contents of both cards to ensure they are the same, if this box is not checked, you WILL NOT be copying everything.
Open 'My Documents', click 'Tools', then 'Folder Options'. Click the 'View' tab and under 'Hidden Files and Folders', make sure the 'Show hidden files and folders' check box is definately checked. If the 'Do not....' box is checked, you will not transferring all the necessary files over.
Good Luck

Be warned, this is not sold by Amazon but by a third party. I ordered a Kingstom SD card from them and after over a month of email ping pong I cancelled and ordered another make from someone else. Following this cancellation they ignored it and sent it to me by return saying it was too late to cancel as it had been dispatched, so I ended up with two.
I wouldn't touch these with a barge pole. _________________ Colin

I had a similiar problem to start with on my SD card. I formatted it to FAT16 using Windows XP and it worked fine after that. It's possible that the card is formatted to NTFS but the TomToms use Linux.

Thats unfortunate, mine came in less thana week (I remember because I was waiting as my 300 kept crashing with a nearly full original card).
Anyway, at least the OP will know that make should be good for a 300.

Linux as an OS can handle just about any filesystem, including NTFS (to the extent that M$ bother documenting it, anyway), but more to the point is that SD cards are pretty universally formatted as FAT16 or FAT32 if the size warrants it.
Even cameras would expect a FAT formatted card, so it's generally true to say that any CF/SD card will be using a FAT filesystem - as purchased.
FWIW I'm using a cheap & cheerful Kingston 512MB card in my TTGO300 - no problems at all. I just shoved it in and started using it. |
