Hi all,
I recently attempted to change the splash on my 300, and its ended in disaster. My current situation is that, after restoring the original splash file in my backup folder, I formatted the SD card, restored using tomtom HOME, and now after I manage to start up the device (only after pressing reset on the bottom), the black and red tomtom screen comes up (along with the noise), then the loading screen appears with the yellow bar growing, then when it completes loading the normal splash screen appears, but now the thing is completely unresponsive (even to the power button) and must be switched off using the reset button. Help!
Thanks,
Dan |

Reformat the card and then install 6.15 onto it through HOME. Add a map folder, and a voice, and then try rebooting again.
You may have a corrupted bootloader which may need to be replaced. The above procedure is supposed to do just that. _________________ Lutz

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I seemed to have formatted and restored a few hundred times and finally I am successfully running version 6.15. Only questions are:
- Is it just my imagination or is the touch screen much less sensative? Or is it just because I'v been prodding it so much to get a response that it is dirty or something?
- At first it took very long to a solid GPS signal, and even then it had only three or so bars, not five, despite driving around a relatively open area for several minutes. Is this an effect of the update?
- Now there is no splash screen at all! Other files, such as the Tomtom icon for windows explorer are also missing. Can I copy a new splash screen onto the tomtom without having another repeat of the previous episode?
Thanks again,
Dan |

Yes, the touch screen is reported to be less responsive in v6.
you can copy your own splash.bmp to the root of the SD card. _________________ Lutz

I find that the response from the screen is slow for the first startup after disconnecing from TT Home.
Afterwards its back to normal |

I think at startup it is performing some integrity checks in background, which slows down the unit. Once finished, it reacts normally. _________________ GO1005
