Look at the thread 3 above this (Gatso Warning Sounds)
You will see that I contacted Navman direct and it is not possible to alter the sounds !!
If you are not happy, do what I did and return it as unsuitable for the purpose that it was purchased. It is advertised as capable of using camera warnings with sound !!

Technically it does provide warnings with sound. It is a GPS device not a Speed Camera Warning system. Now if I had brought a Speed Camera warning system then I would be annoyed if it didn't work.
But as it is GPS units are sold as Navigation aids and not specifically for Speed Camera warnings. The Navman does have a sound, all be it very annoying and everyone wishes it can be changed.
So I don't know if you could return an item on the basis of it not being a Speed Camera Warning system. It does it's job as a GPS / routing system.
It would be easier to return, if the GPS didn't work.
The Active POI's is just a bonus.
I'm no law expert or anything, but it seems to me that NAVMAN have done nothing wrong in advertising Speed Camera's with Sound! As it does have sound. |

I think your views are missing the point.
All (to my knowledge) portable sat nav systems have POI s with sound.
The warning sounds are NOT a bonus and are certainly expected in this type of product
Whether or not the sound is loud eneough to hear is personal, the fact is that if the product is not to YOUR satisfaction and you cannot hear it ,then
send the item back for a refund.
If you had read my comments on the GATSO warnings post, you will find that
I contacted both Navman and Handtec before returning the product.
My advice to anyone who wishes to purchase the Navman is try it in DEMO mode in a shop before purchase.
Apart from the sound !!!!!!! it is an excellent product. |
