Hello Everyone!
In the last weeks i've spent lots of time trying to make this two work together!
I've made lot of reasearch in internet and tried lots of differente solutions with no luck.
So... i'm trying my luck here at pocketgpsworld.com !!!
The PPC is a i-mate JARmin with WM5.
The GPS is the Globalsat BT-338.
I made the partnership with no troubles...
GPS and PDA works great and i can run apps like Oziexplorer and Navio...
But i can't run TomTom 5!!!
The big problem is when making the partnership i'm only allowed to choose COM6 and COM7!
In Tomtom there is any of this!
Only COM 0,2,3,9,serial and irda...
Recently i found the GPSgate app.
But... got no luck! I can't create a virtual COM for any of this tomtomports..
And when using real ports as output, it simply doesn work!
Any ideia how to put this 2 work together? |

When you connected the GPS unit to the device with the Bluetooth did you then select the com ports tab on the same page, then press "New Outgoing Port", select the GPS unit on the next page that pops up then finally select the Com Port from the drop down box followed by finish, Then try configuring TomTom again - Mike |

But the problem is then i can only choose COM6 or COM7!

And in Tomtom neither 6 or 7 are available!
All other applications that i can choose the COM 6 or 7 work!

What version Of TTN5 are you using, if it is less than version 5,21 download it from www.tomtom.com for free and install that, I have known this cure the fault on at least one other device, worth a try - Mike |

I use GPS gate express with a BT 338 device and Ipaq 5550. You need to first set the gps gate to see the GPS. In my case I go into settings on the gps gate and set the input as Com8 with a baud rate of 38400.
You then need to add a virtual port, say Com 0. One virtual com port is enough as you can run more than one application of a single port thru gps gate.
Once thats done, run gps gate with the GPS device and make sure the gps gate icon turns green, that way you know it is communicating with the GPS device and getting a gps signal.
Next open tomtom and go to gps setup, set up as "other NMEA GPS" with a baud rate of 4800. You should then see an entry called "Franson Vserial Com 0" select this and tomtom should now connect thru the gps gate to the BT338

Hi,
Download the old TOM TOM 2.0 driver from this site.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=73
Run this and set the com port using it.
It'll then be available in Tom TOm 5.
Note you may have to repeat this every time you soft reset (I have to on my 4700 but not on my 2210).
Hope this helps.
