Hi all,
Just need to pick your collective brains with a problem.
I am hardwiring my Dell X3 into my car and creating a bespoke dash area for the PDA.
However the GPS unit I have (AmbiCom GPS-CF Pro) sticks out the top of the CF port by a good 2 inches and will then cause problems installing it into the dash.
Is there anywhere where I can get a CF card expension module which will allow me to run a short cable that will then allow me to plug the CF GPS unit in a slightly different location that will then fit within the dash.

You can get CF to PCMCIA units that fold flat to the back of the PDA, it might be possible to put the CF GPS into a CF/PCMCIA carier and insert this into the unit, don't know if it will work though never tried it, the unit I have is about 100MM in length, will try it later tonight with a number of different CF cards (serial, DAQ, memory, DMM) that's all I have to mess with but even if these work there is no way I would guarantee it will work with the GPS Unit.
If it does work I know you can get PCMCIA extension cables, a lot of messing around and probably prone to a connection coming loose in a car, if bluetooth is not an option why not consider serial gps devices via the plug? if its built in it will need power so cable the GPS to the PDA through the same connector, down side of course - this mean a new GPS reciever - Mike
