|
|
Please help a newbie! I'm using an iPaq 1710 with an upgrade to Navigator 5 from the Navigation Pack. I got the software working eventually, and it has been OK for a few weeks. However, now I can only get the green Legal Notice screen and the "No maps found" message. I've tried any number of soft resets to no avail. Do I need to reinstall? I'm reluctant because it was sooo difficult! Everything still seems to be there in memory and on SD card, I just can't access it. |

I'm not sure how to do that - I'm fairly new to PDAs. I can navigate to the file in File Explorer, but it says that I have to open the application first to open the file, and that's what isn't working!
I have e-mailed TomTom support, but that took a week last time I had a problem! |

are you using the sd card that you used for the previous version if so did you format the sd card before you put tt5 on to it also did you hard reset the ipaq before installing tt5 (NOTE IF YOU HARD RESET THE IPAQ YOU WILL LOOSE ALL DATA ON IT AND IT WILL BE AS IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY)
the above might be worth a ago as some of the tt2004 (hp nav pack) might still be on there but this is a last option. _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

The upgrade from TT4 to TT5 is broken - the TT4 SD card has on it a autoinstall that will try and overwrite TT5 on the PPC with the version of TT4 on the card. As the maps o nthe card are now TT5, TT4 will not recognise them. Every time you reinstalla TT5 and then put the card in, the card wil loverwrite with TT4 as soon as you launch TT!
The only solution that worked permanently for me was to format the SD card and then install TT5 from scratch. |

Go to an electronics shop and buy a card reader. _________________ Lutz

Got hit with this problem today. I had been playing around with CheckPOInt settings tries to start TT (5.1) usijng Navigate but got the green screen and when I clicked on Agree got No Maps found.
I reverted to previous backup taken pre CP install (made when TT was working) and the prob persists.
Tried removing SD card soft reset etc - no better. Thecard appears to be OK - I can see it from Explorer etc.
What next??? |

reinstalled the maps - no go
reinstalled 5.10 upgrade - no go
checked currentmap.dat - contents are
! \CF Card\Great_Britain_Plus_map\
question - should the "!" be there??
It must be something to do with the data on the SD card as I've REstores (via Sprite) from 2 earlier configs where I know TTN was working. Think I might delete/rename the currentmap file and try the map reinstall again.
also - didn't say - I did not get the maps on an SD card - I bougt an TT5 upgrade kit and installed maps from CD

yes, the ! should be there. currentmap.dat is a binary file, the first four bytes secifying the length of the folowing string. You should NOT try to open that file in a text editor.
Why don't you start from scratch? remove all traces of the TomTom program (you may have it sitting in multiple folders) and then do a clean install of 5.210 - that will be easier than to try an make old restores work. _________________ Lutz
