This is the final link in my saga with a PDA purchased from Sat Nav Solutions which became faulty (http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=25952). I have started a different thread, because it now involves the manufacturer and their repair agents.
Mio were initially very helpful in resolving my repair issue and within a couple of days the return for repair (to Comserve) was authorised. When packing my unit, I enclosed a covering letter with my full address on it. In all fairness, the unit was received by them on the 10th August and was shipped back to me on the 16th August. On the 19th August it was returned undelivered to Comserve due to incorrect address information. The unit was then sent out again on the 19th August with the same address details which lead to it being returned previously. (I didn't know about any of this at the time)
On the evening of the 22nd, I emailed the main contact at Comserve for an update on my repair. I was informed the parcel was being held at Leeds depot due to the house number being missing from the address, I was also emailed the database entry of my customer details from Mio to Comserve, the house number was missing! On the database details was clearly entered my email address and telephone number. Why had no- one from either organisation contacted me when the item was first returned?
I collected my unit myself today, that was no easy task either because without the correct address details, I had a job convincing them it was my parcel (my name, my road, my postcode, but it couldn't possibly be mine without a house number on it could it?). When opening the package, to add insult to injury the first thing I saw was my letter with an address, then there was some paperwork from Parceline saying it had been returned once, then a small piece of printed paper from Comserve stating that the motherboard had been replaced!
The moral of the story? I'm not sure there is one, but.... What should have been a raving 5 star review about the help Mio initially gave me and the speedy turnaround by Comserve has turned into a complaint about the lack of comunication and incompetence shown when sending out the repaired item.
It is currently working, so hopefully there will be no more probelms (fingers crossed).
