|

Be gentle, its my 1st post and Im very new to Sat Nav! I really want a TTG but cant decide whether to go for the TTG Classic or wait for the TTG300. I have just sold a Road Angel 2, so one of my main needs on a TTG is the 'saftey' camera database. It seems, by reading the forum it works very well with TTG. My question is: Will the camera database work with the new TTG 300 ok? Thanks guys 'n gals. |

It should work just as well with either TTG.
The Classic has a mains adaptor but is not Bluetooth.
The 300 has no mains adaptor but is Bluetooth compatible. _________________ Richard

It will also come with the newer maps rather than an upgrade (£40?) |

As I understands; the 300 will not come with the map "Major Roads of Europe" _________________ Gunnar Nystul, Forum Admin, TomTom Forum Norway and Nystul Navigasjon |

Thanks for you replies guys. I think I will go for the new TTG 300, simply because of the latest edition maps. Not having major roads of europe doesnt really bother me, as if I drive abroad I would want a street level version map anyway. The only annoying thing is that it has no mains charger! Anyone know how much these are?
Secondly, with the new TTG 300,a previous post said that the safety camera database will be compatable with the new 300, but will it fit on the SD card that comes with the TTG 300 or will I need to buy a bigger card?
Thanks in advance. |

Oh God!!! Now my head is in a spin!!! Some people are now saying the classic is more comparable to the Go 500. And that the 300 doesnt have ASN (assitied sat nav)...Maybe I'll go for the classic, or shall I go for the 300-----oh-HELP...my brain is on overload-Maybe I should just buy a boy scout's compass? Coments please? |

I would go for the 500...
Of course that is a question of money, but you dont get the handsfree calling possibility with th 300.
You can also get a remote control for the 500.
It is correct that the 300 dont have the Assisted Satelitte Navigation. (somthing to do with tunnels. Nice if someone could explain what this realy are)
You can take a look at this comparison sheet: (PDF)

Firstly just joined this site and its great loads of info, which is very helpful.
I am in a similar posistion and can't decide between the Classic and the 300.
I am going on European Driving holiday soon and really want one for then.
But if I buy the 300 it doesn't come with any maps of Europe. The Classic will come with main Europe Roads out of the box. Although the 300 should come with the latest UK maps???
The 300 has the advantage of Postcode finder, but is there software available that allows Postcodes to be used as POI's on the classic using either 4.2 or 5.0 software
Another question is knowing what charger comes with the 300 is it a car or mains or both. On the point of chargers I've been reading horror stories of the car chargers frying classics, would it be safer to go with the new 300.
So many questions and descions and not a lot of time to make them. (I go away the 30th May)
Any input from you guys would be great :D |

I think it has been said that the new 300 only comes with a car charger. The Classic also comes with a mains charger. I would presume that the frying situation should have been sorted by now. I've had mine from the start and it has been fine. |

Correction
Just seen the information on the 300 by Darren Griffin and he says ...
"I ought to mention that the package we received and which is the final shipping version comes with both 12v and 240v chargers contrary to what has been posted on some other web sites." |

So the charger issue is no longer a problem.
The major issue I have now is the maps.
If I buy the Classis it will come with the full UK map and the main roads of Europe. I need these european road maps for my holiday.
But if I buy the new 300 I will have the updated maps with the postcode finder but no maps what so ever of europe
I can't even buy the maps of europe for the 300 as they are only out for upgrade.
I would like to buy the 300 as I don't like buying outdated product but if I want a TomTom for my holiday in the end of May I have no choose but to buy a Classic
Throwing something into the mix what maps come with the 500 and how much extra is it? |
