|
|
I have a new Medion PNA 150 sat nav using Medion navigator 3.1.75CE but when I try to connect to GPs, it says
"signal strength too low, check antenna".
Makes no difference where I am, it always says the same.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong before I take it back for refund?
Changed the atenna settings to SiRF and it picked up the satellites but still get same message when i want to navigate anywhere. Tried taking it on a 50 mile trip - still get same message. Baud rate set to 4800 |

Is your GPS permanently mounted in your car? It's just that some heated car windscreens block satellite signals. Have you tried the GPS unit outside of car with nothing obstructing it's path to sky? _________________ Medion 95000 | TT3.07 | Kingston 512MB SD |

Apologies beforehand if this is a stupid question but have you tried testing this whilst outside with a good sky view? It could be an issue with your vehicle windscreen blocking the signals.
I am currently testing the Navigon Blue Media PNA Device and first impressions are very good, quick to aquire satellites and easy to use. It's the same hardware as yours although using Navigon MobileNavigator. As far as I can see there is no option to adjust the GPS configuration settings on my device at all. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've just received a MDPNA150 for review so if you have any questions I am now in a better position to answer them!
The software is indeed a version of Destinator and as this is a WinCE device you cannot replace the software. The upside is they also bundle a nice MP3 player which a useful addition. _________________ Darren Griffin |

apart from being in french, tell you how to'hack' your medion
basically u install a regedit program (dont worry it can all be reverted back to normal by using the hard reset), from there u can activesync/install other programs, the icons appear on the main screen
The 150 is actually a windows ce-net device, but with the additions of utilities etc, could look the same as a normal pocket pc
Ronnie
ps for those who like me dont speak french it translates as
1. To launch ActiveSync session by connecting Medion via USB - to click on "Exploring" in ActiveSync
2. To copy regedit.exe from Medion in \Windows\start
3. To copy bureau.reg to the root of Medion
4. reset on the side with the stylus (unscrew stylus for pin)
5. You arrive on regedit, to make file->import choose bureau.reg, then double-to click, then to leave regedit
6. After ActiveSync, to remove regedit.exe in \Windows\Start
7. copy MNAVDCE.exe (is in file \medion \) - > to paste shortcut in \Windows\Desktop
8. copy regedit.exe (is in file \medion \) - > to paste shortcut in \Windows\Desktop
9. copy setting.exe (is in file \medion \) - > to paste shortcut in \Windows\Desktop
10. copy mp3player.exe (is in file \windows \) -to paste shortcut in > \Windows\Desktop
11. reset device
Hurrah, you have a MDPNA with the same functions that it had previously (Navi/mp3/settings), but it is now a mobile terminal with complete WinCE4.2 and you will be able install any of the programs like OziCE for the cross-country GPS or BetaPlayer to play of Divx.
Note - to return the configuration of origin without a hardware-reset, import the key standard.reg in with regedit |

You beat me to it, I did the above last night. It all works as described except I don't get the start bar, did you?
Bear in mind that WinCE is not PocketPC only those apps written with support for WinCE will work, still it is nice to get into the OS _________________ Darren Griffin |

No I didnt get the start bar, but u can put any icon u like on the 'desktop'
Some programs will work, others wont, but as its really meant to be a GPS unit and used while driving, I dont think I will be needing word etc., although a good sound recorder would be nice for taking comments while I'm driving
Ronnie
Oh and TT3 works fine, Im told, and u can get decent POI software for it! |

Unfortunately I don’t know how to attach files to post it here |

I've been tinkering with the Navigon BlueMedia vesrion of this unit and the same method that unlocks WinCE on the Medion PNA150 works with this unit.
Interestingly the Navigon unit has the same MP3 Player installed as well as a nice GPS Info applet that provides GPS Diagnostics. I've now got it booting to the CE Desktop, Explorer, MP3 Player, Calendar and Contacts. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Create a Desktop or Programs Shortcut to the Calendar and Contacts Applications located in the \windows folder.
Having said that, they are in German and I ahven't found a way of changing that, the International Settings in Control Panel are already set to UK _________________ Darren Griffin |
