Hi all,
I am off on my holidays to centre parcs soon and i wanted to use my gps on my bike so that i can see where i am (just to be cool) and i have downloaded an ariel view of the parc and now i just need to put it into some sort of gps application so i can see where i am. As it is basically just a jpeg with no scale etc on it i am unsure how to calibrate it or what application i can use to make use of the picture.
Idoesnt have to be pinpoint accurate but to the nearest 10-20 metres or so would be nice.
Any Ideas
I am on messenger if anyone wants to give me advice
Cheers

You can use Locbrowser which allows you to calibrate the maps on the fly (no pun intended). Go to one corner of the park, mark that spot on the map, then go to the opposite corner, mark it on the map, and your map is calibrated. _________________ Lutz

thanks for the super fast response. Couple of questions though.
Does it work with just jpeg's or do you have to convert the file?
Does it work with a Haicom 303MMF CF Gps and a CF Jacket on my ipaq?
What sort of accuracy can i expect?
Cheers

it works with all graphics types, GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG
The accuracy depends on you - you are calibrating it. But generally GPS accuracy is 5-15 metres, so you should not expect better than that _________________ Lutz

did your GPS come with a speciall driver or a GPSinfo tool? can you confirm it works outside of any mapping programs? _________________ Lutz

Hi there,
Just tried it with GPS dash and i get it to work on com 7 so i assume it works now but i also noticed that GPSDash works with the same type of thing so i may buy that and use that instead. The locbrowser seems very 'Clunky' and the gpsdash seems much smoother.
Have you any preferences to the 2 programs?
